Tex Saverio–Haute couture designer

Indonesian born and based couturier Tex Saverio has been often dubbed the “McQueen of Indonesia”. When you look at his collections, you can immediately see why the reference was made. His bold theatrical silhouettes, detailed embroidery, and the inclusion of flora and fauna in his creations are key elements in his creations that look spectacular.

He was the one that created the magical gown for the Jennifer Lawrence and her character of Katniss Everdeen in the movie ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’. He also made Lady Gaga’s dress for Harper’s Bazaar 2011 photo shoot, Ayumi Hamazaki’s dress in her ‘How Beautiful You Are’ music video and Kim Kardashian’s dress for Elle March 2013 photo shoot.

Tex founded his luxury couture line after graduating from Bunka and Phalie Studio in Jakarta. His fashion career officially started in 2010 through the label Tex Saverio Prive, which was oriented toward haute couture designs. Dramatic. Magical. Spectacular. Those adjectives were often used to describe the aesthetics of Tex Saverio label.

After receiving the “Inspiring People Award” by HP in 2011. and was pronounced as the most talented young fashion designer by Amica Indonesia Awards, Tex decided to launch his ready-to-wear label together with his business partner Faye Liu. Tex’s keen eye in gauging the current marketplace, combined with his innate creative ability, provides the core to the growing success of the brand’s international positioning.

Tex also launched his ready to wear collection in 2014 that is meant for his international customers. With that, he has definitely raised the platform for Indonesian fashion scene to be accepted and recognized in the global fashion industry.

He wants The House of Saverio not only be an Indonesian fashion brand, but also a global lifestyle brand. With his fashion vision and bold creations he already made first steps and hopefully he will open the pathway for other emerging Indonesian fashion designers to follow on to the global market.■
