There has been traditional dragon boating in Southern China for over 2000 years and this year for the first time it is coming to Bali!
The International Dragon Boat Race and Festival (Bali IDBFest) will be held from May 26th to May 29th on Batur Lake in Kintamani. The racing day events will feature racing classes under the Indonesian Canoe and Rowing Association (PODSI) and the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). The races are a colourful spectacle, with boats competing against each other over distances of 200 to 2000 metres.
Not only strength, endurance, and skill are necessary but also teamwork and harmony. There is no other paddle sport in which 22 people work together to create a team result rewarded through the efforts of the whole crew. This harmony can only be achieved through many hours of training and developing the team spirit. It is indeed a great spectacle to watch.
So come and join the growing fan crowd of dragon boating!
